Hello Oklahoma

I have lived in four different states in my live. Each has different cultures, people, & weather. I am currently a new resident in the great state of Oklahoma. This was an unexpected move for the whole family. This was a move based on the idea we needed more income than we were producing in Florida and quickly.
I love the idea of the four real seasons here, unlike Florida that had Summer Season, Hurricane Season, Love Bug Season and the Mosquito Season. It was nice to see a little snow, we haven’t seen snow in probably about 9 years. The temperature here varies widely from day to day. At least there is far less humidity here than in Florida. The air is clean here like in Florida.
The cities/towns here are unlike most cities I have seen in California or Florida. They are very small, most don’t even have grocery stores. It seems about every 12 to 25 miles is a town. There are only 3 real cities in this state that I know of so far. A lot of these towns are just like the movies where everyone knows everyone and their business. The town we live in does have recreation for the kids after school for free. They provide snacks, drinks, games and supervision for free. The local churches sponsor the programs which is really nice. The towns here are peaceful not large quantity of crime. Your kids can go out and play without major worry. There aren’t many things for the teenagers to do though sadly.
The people here I cant quite figure out just yet. Sadly my boys are having a harder time here than anywhere else in the schools. A lot of the kids do not like them solely because we came from Florida and that is what they tell them. The young adults here are quite friendly and helpful. The middle age to older adults do not seem as welcoming. Most of the people here have lived in the same town all of their lives and they have had the same properties in their families for generations. Its almost like they see us as outsiders. Now dont get me wrong not everyone is like this here.
Lets talk cost of living. Rent here vaires widely. For a 3bdrm house between $450 and $1000 a month. No, the $450 is not in the hood. I am not even sure there is a hood here lol. Gas and electric runs between really depends on how old your house is. Water and trash is the same as anywhere else. What I do not like is they tax food here. I am not used to that. Gas for your car is running $1.91 a gallon. Cigerettes are getting outrageous, $48.00 a carton. EatingEating reviews
out is about the same as in Florida not much different. Driving tickets less here than in California or Florida LOL.
Speaking of eating out…… The Mexican food here is way better than Florida. However there isn’t any Cuban or
Puerto Rican food here. The Chinese food is the same. Still not as good as California. The Barbeque is better here but still not as good as in California.
More to come……..
